National Team player Markus Schopp had his biggest success on the club level with Sturm Graz. Under head coach Ivica Osim he earned the labeling “tireless fighter on the right wing”, won 2 national championships, 2 cup wins and 2 supercup triumphs. Furthermore, Sturm Graz qualified with Schopp three times for the UEFA Champions League.

From July 1996 to December 1997 the 52-times international played for Hamburger SV of the German Bundesliga. From 2001 to 2005 he played for Brescia Calcio of Italy’s Serie A. In July 2005 Markus Schopp returned to Austria and played one season for Red Bull Salzburg. In the summer of 2006 he moved on to play for Red Bull New York.

After his active career as a football player he became a coach. Currently he works as head coach for TSV Hartberg in Austria’s Bundesliga.
