Foundation of the company and organization of the first ATP challenger tournament in Graz.

The ATP challenger in Graz is moved to the roof of a shopping mall, making headlines around the world.

Running parallel to the challenger tournament there is also an event of the ATP Champions Tour, which brings top stars like Boris Becker, Björn Borg and John McEnroe to Austria.

By organizing the “Return of the Legends” in Frankfurt, the company emerges as tennis organizer for the first time abroad.

With the organization of the Lipizzan horse gala in Styria the competence in organizing events is impressively emphasized. The by then biggest tent in the world (123 meters long, 77 meters broad and a 30 tons heavy awning) offers place for 5,000 visitors and is sold out on all four days.

In 2003 Graz is the culturlal capital of Europe. During this event e|motion initiated the project “Auto Art”, which led to a strengthening of the car location Styria and an increase in the design consciousness.

The tennis tournament in Graz moves to the Shoppingcity Seiersberg where the Austrian tennis legend Thomas Muster makes his debut on the ATP Champions Tour.

Start of organizing international golf tournaments with the BA-CA Golf Open which was held as part of the Challenge Tour at GC Fontana. On “Super Tuesday” thousands of fans watch an exhibition with Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie.

During the Superfund Tennis Classics in the Wiener Stadthalle, fans get to see a re-match of the legendary Davis Cup duell between Austria and Germany form 1994 in Unterpremstätten (which was won 3-2 by Germany). Boris Becker and Michael Stich once again emerge as victors against Thomas Muster and Alexander Antonitsch.

Between 2004 and 2007 the company once again proves its prowess for the organization of sports events with the Mountainbike world cup (downhill, four cross and cross country) in Schladming.

South of Graz, e|motion organizes the Davis Cup match between Austria and Croatia at the Schwarzl recreation center. The match is one 3-2 by the guests.

Thanks to e|motion, Austria returns to the highest level of European Golf with the European tour tournament at GC Fontana. This comeback is crowned by a victory of local hero Markus Brier.

2007

The company expands to Germany by organizing the ATP tournament in Stuttgart, a tournament rich in tradition. e|motion is commissioned with the duties by the tennis club Weissenhof.

2008

The next Davis Cup duel under the aegis of Straka and Weindorfer is held at Vienna’s Dusika Stadium between Austria and the USA, which is won 4-1 by the Americans.

Hospitality support of national sponsors like the Bank Austria and the Telekom Austria during the UEFA Euro 2008. Furthermore, the Italian and the Turkish national teams are supported during the championships in organizational matters.

A promotional activity in the lead-up to the ERKE Austrian Open in Salzburg makes worldwide headlines. German table tennis superstar Timo Boll and Austro Chinese Chen Weixing play an exhibition on the “Trumpeter tower” at Salzburg’s castle Hohensalzburg.

For the first time, e|motion organizes the ATP tennis tournament at Vienna’s Stadthalle. The perfect debut is crowned by Jürgen Melzer’s wins in 2009 and 2010.

Premier of a tennis challenger tournament in Salzburg with a “battle of sexes” between Thomas Muster and Sybille Bammer, which is won by Muster.

The Davis Cup between Slovakia and Austria in Bad Gleichenberg is won by Austria 3-2.

Kastner & Öhler, the traditional department store in the heart of Graz is re-opened after a two-year long complete overhaul.

The summer ball of the Styrian economy is held in a stylish ambient at Graz’s theater and its surrounding, historical castle courtyards and is a popular meeting point for entrepreneurs and decision makers.

The ATP event in Vienna – the Erste Bank Open – are raised to 500-level, thus becoming one of the biggest tournaments in Europe.

The MercedesCup in Stuttgart changes its surface to grass court – thanks to a close cooperation with Wimbledon’s “All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club”. The premier is one by Rafael Nadal. Dominic Thiem (2016) and Roger Federer (2017) also triumph on Stuttgart’s grass court.

Wimbledon is also a strong supporter of the women’s WTA grass court tournament on Mallorca, which is held for the first time.

The Mountainbike Eliminator world cup experiences its premier in Graz thanks to e|motion.

Thanks to a 5-0 win over Belarus and a 3-1 win in Graz over Australia, e|motion polishes its success rate in Davis Cup matches.

Herwig Straka is elected to the ATP “Board of Directors” as Europe’s representative, thus entering the highest committee of the men’s professional association.

Edwin Weindorfer is elected to the ATP EG board as well as the ATP 250 executive committee.

Austria loses the Davis Cup Match against Chile in Salzburg 3-2.

e|motion, in the person of Herwig Straka, takes over the management responsibilities of Austria’s world class tennis player Dominic Thiem.

The company is leading the way in restructuring the ATP tournament calendar between the Grand Slam tournaments in Paris and Wimbledon. From 2020 on, e|motion is organizing a well-endowed WTA tournament in Berlin. In Mallorca, an ATP event steps into the footsteps of the women’s tournament. e|motion is now responsible for three big international events on grass court: Stuttgart, Berlin and Mallorca.
