Tommy Haas wins premiere of Ischgl Trophy

Tommy Haas is the winner of the Ischgl Trophy 2025. In Sunday’s final, the former world No. 2 defeated Austria’s tennis favorite Dominic Thiem 6–3 in front of a packed crowd at the Ischgl Tennis Dome.

In addition to the winner’s prize money of €25,000, Haas also received a high-end Kalkhoff e-bike worth €7,000. Overcome with joy, he spontaneously took a celebratory lap around the court on it. It was a well-deserved reward for a magnificent performance, as Haas delivered a truly outstanding display.

Afterwards, he was delighted:
“I’m incredibly proud that I was able to win here. This Ischgl Trophy is a fantastic event.”

Dominic Thiem, the 2020 US Open champion, responded with class:
“I’m 15 years younger than Tommy. And it’s a goal of mine to still be able to play like him in 15 years’ time.”

Haas had benefited from a retirement due to injury by Mischa Zverev in Saturday’s semifinal.

Third place at the Ischgl Trophy went to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who proved to be a true fan favorite over the three Trophy days — on court, on the ski slopes, while celebrating, and during autograph sessions. Ahead of Sunday’s final, he had already delighted the crowd with an entertaining show match against Michael Berrer (6–7).

The fans also thoroughly enjoyed the show match featuring the surprise doubles pairing of Joel Schwärzler / Stefan Koubek against Feliciano López and Michael Berrer (2–6).

These two matches served as a perfect appetizer for the main course: the highly anticipated final between Thiem and Haas. The level of play was exceptional. At 3–3, Haas had to fend off more than half a dozen break points. After doing so, he immediately broke Thiem’s serve, took a 5–3 lead, and then confidently served out the match to seal the 6–3 victory.

Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of the organizing e|motion group, was delighted: “That was a great final. With that, you’re automatically qualified for the second edition of the Ischgl Trophy next year. The premiere of the Ischgl Trophy made one thing clear: it is here to stay."

Günther Zangerl, board member of Silvretta Seilbahn AG, was equally convinced that the Ischgl Trophy will secure a permanent place in Ischgl’s event calendar: “That was a very, very successful premiere.” Alexander von der Thannen, chairman of the local tourism board (TVB), agreed:
“That was great fun.”
