PRO EVENT – together into the future

During the bett1HULKS tournaments in Cologne, the PRO EVENT initiative was presented to the public.

"In order to free ourselves from the state of shock which the event industry currently finds itself in due to the Corona pandemic, we all – sports, culture, politics and society – must come together and find a way to make events with an audience possible again. Needless to say, with the necessary hygiene and safety concepts”, explained Edwin Weindorfer, organizer of the bett1HULKS Championship and managing partner of the e|motion group, the launch of the PRO EVENT initiative. According to Weindorfer, the goal of PRO EVENT is the following: “To discuss ways and measures with politicians that will allow the short-term survival of as many as possible in the event industry in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and give them the chance to rebuild their business when the pandemic is over.”

The plan of action called “Securing the future of the event industry in the DACH region” is comprised of the following three steps: step 1: “stop the free fall”, step 2: “Stabilization”, step 3: “rebuilding step-by-step”

To tackle these three steps, the PRO EVENT task force proposes the following points of action for discussion:

  • Temporary financial support for the commercial event sector
  • Reliability of politics: support professionality and a sense of responsibility in the event sector
  • Economic planning reliability for the event sector must be guaranteed

Alongside the installation of an effective lobbying organization including representatives of the event sector PRO EVENT will start to organize a digital conference series with the goal of networking and regular exchange of experiences and best practice examples.
