The 2025 Mallorca Championships presented by ecotrans Group were a resounding success. A total of 26,994 spectators attended the eight-day ATP grass-court tournament at the Mallorca Country Club. The finals day featuring both singles and doubles was completely sold out – further proof that the tournament is now firmly established as one of the leading grass-court events on the ATP Tour.
“We are delighted with another very successful Mallorca Championships,” said Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of the organizing e|motion group. “We witnessed not only outstanding tennis, but also reaffirmed our commitment to sustainability, the local community, and Mallorca’s worldwide reputation as a first-class sports destination – the tournament was broadcast in 100 countries. Once again, the island has proven its ability to host high-profile events with great passion.”
Sporting highlights at the highest level
In singles, the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor triumphed, defeating Frenchman Corentin Moutet7:5, 7:6 (7/3) in the final – without losing a single set throughout the tournament. In doubles, Mexico’s Santiago González and the United States’ Austin Krajicek prevailed over the Indo-American pairing Yuki Bhambri and Robert Galloway in a thrilling showdown, winning 6:1, 1:6, 15:13 in the match tiebreak.
More than just tennis: a week with purpose and responsibility
The 2025 edition stood out not only for its sporting quality but also for its strong social and environmental engagement. In line with its ongoing commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the event was organized plastic-free for the third consecutive year. Free water refill stations were available throughout the venue, eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles.
Together with the local environmental group Protemar, two large-scale clean-up operations were carried out: one in the Torrente de Santa Ponça, where over 200 kilograms of waste were collected, and another on World Oceans Day, which removed nearly one ton of debris from the beach and seabed near Marineland, Costa d’en Blanes.
Local economic support was also a priority: 70 percent of suppliers were based on Mallorca – a strong commitment to regional value creation and sustainable business. The initiative was publicly endorsed by the Balearic Government, the Island Council of Mallorca, and the municipality of Calvià.
A tennis tournament for everyone
More than 200 complimentary tickets were distributed to local social organizations such as AMADIP-ESMENT, ASDICA and Projecte Jove – a clear commitment to inclusion. Meanwhile, the Red Cross (Cruz Roja) ran an awareness campaign in the Fan Zone addressing the issue of elderly isolation, as part of the initiative Match for Solidarity.
Charity Partners Night: Sport for a good cause
Another highlight was the Charity Partners Night, a benefit event in support of ClientEarth, a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental protection. A live auction raised €52,000, with exclusive prizes including signed player equipment and a private padel match with football coaching icon Jürgen Klopp.
Celebrities and global attention
High-profile guests added to the event’s shine: Marga Prohens (President of the Balearic Islands), Llorenç Galmés (President of the Island Council of Mallorca), and Juan Antonio Amengual (Mayor of Calvià). From football: Jürgen Klopp, Jens Lehmann and Samu Costa (RCD Mallorca). From Germany: Dieter Bohlen, Roberto Blanco, Johannes B. Kerner, Gitta Saxx, Claudelle Deckert and Uwe Ochsenknecht. From Wimbledon: Richard Atkinson (CFO) and Philip Brook (former Chairman of the AELTC) honored the event with their visit.
